Beyond Judgements. Toward solutions

CAM is an Italian Benefit Company: a choice of public value

Milan Chamber of Arbitration, a special agency of the Milan Monza Brianza Lodi Chamber of Commerce, is an Italian Benefit Company.

To this day, it is the first Arbitration Chamber in Italy, and among the most important in the world, to have made this transformation, confirming its role as a pioneer in innovation and sustainability in the legal and alternative justice sector.

This choice reinforces CAM's role as a civil servant, consolidating its commitment to more accessible, efficient and accountable justice.

Key initiatives include: reducing environmental impact, gender equality in the assignment of arbitrators and mediators, support for companies in crisis and specialized training.

Being a Benefit Company means adopting a business model that creates shared value, contributing to the well-being of communities, environmental protection, and the promotion of ethical and transparent business practices.

Adopting this legal status is only the beginning: CAM is committed to pursuing innovative projects and concrete initiatives to generate positive and lasting change.

The 2025 Goals

CAM has defined a set of common benefit goals for 2025, in line with the criteria of the B Impact Assessment, the gold standard for measuring the impact of Benefit companies.

These include:

  • Environment: measuring the carbon footprint of the company's headquarters in Milan's Palazzo Turati and defining a decarbonization strategy.
  • Community: activation of social volunteer initiatives with the involvement of at least 75% of the staff.
  • Employees: promotion of internships and school-to-work transition, with at least four internships activated.
  • Governance: active involvement of employees through at least three participatory initiatives.
  • Stakeholders: promotion of gender parity in the assignment of professionals involved in arbitrations and mediations, ensuring a 40% to 60% balance.
  • A concrete commitment for the future: next steps
To ensure that common benefit objectives are met, the company has appointed an Impact Manager, responsible for monitoring and guiding sustainable initiatives.

Impact Report

Each year, CAM will prepare an Impact Report, attached to the financial statements, documenting the results achieved in compliance with legal requirements.

Measurement

Impact measurement will be carried out using the international standard B Impact Assessment (BIA). This process will monitor progress over time and guide future choices, ensuring continuous improvement in sustainability performance and common benefit.
